About the Dressmaker
 

Linda studied at the Northern Ireland College of Art & Design, located on the University of Ulster campus at Jordanstown, she originally comes from the picturesque fishing village of Groomsport near Bangor in County Down, Northern Ireland.
The artwork and designs on Irish dance costumes are based upon the Celtic art and knotwork found in early Christian gospels known as Illuminated Manuscripts, the most famous of which is the "Book of Kells".
The company name "Lindasfarne Designs" originates from an adaptation of the "Lindisfarne Gospels", another leading example of early Illuminated Manuscripts produced around 698 a.d. at the Monastery of Lindisfarne and incorporates Linda's name in the title.

Costumes are made from 100% cotton velvet with bodices lined in matching cotton broadcloth. With over 300 shades of velvet and all the latest colours in satin, including fluorescent plus exciting specialty fabrics, we can produce a costume you'll be proud to purchase for your daughter. I have a keen eye for colour placement forged from my days attending the Northern Ireland College of Art & Design coupled with many years of sewing experience. A hobby making costumes for my two dancing daughters soon grew to school costumes and an ever-growing list of clients from beginners to championship level. We can provide existing design patterns purchased from one of the many design houses, work with your own design ideas or design a completely "one of a kind" dress for you.
 

Lindasfarne Designs also carries a variety of hair accessories from Magik Wand Curlers to scrunchies, headbands and Austrian Crystal Tiara's. Of course to protect your beautiful new costume we provide 100% waterproof dress bags and coordinating "knapsac" style shoe bags. Inishfree poodle socks and ghillies are also available.  Lindasfarne Designs also carries
"Irish Dancing Magazine", a must for Irish Dancing enthusiasts everywhere.
