for six people
Line up in sets of three (2 ladies one man)
Trios facing Trios, holding hands, with the man in the
middle
Each 6 person set to be positioned back to back with
next.
Forward and back twice
and then each 3 forms a circle.
Circle Right then left. Break circle.
Forward and back twice & re-form circles. Circle Left
then right.
Man faces his right lady
and dances sides left and right.
Loose lady faces forward and dances Right and left.
Man turns to left lady and repeats.
Men link right arms and
turn then left arms and turn
(Ladies can swap on their own side if they wish)
Men right hand to right
partner and turn, left to left, right to right.
OPTIONAL
Men turn at a 45
degree angle to the right.
Dance right to gap in side whilst ladies swap in their
own side.
Repeat again (Men now opposite) ladies swap opposite.
Repeat twice more until back to original places.
Trios hold hands.
Man raises right hand, left lady goes under arch, Man
follows.
Man raises left arm, right lady goes under, Man follows.
Man raises right again, left goes under, Man follows.
Forward and back, pass
through ARCHES right shoulders
Repeat having advanced one trio.

BIG CIRCLE REEL
As many couples as you
want.
All hold hands (partner on left / Friend on right)
Dance left and back then
right and back.
Link right arm with partner and turn.
Link left arm to friend and turn. Repeat.
SWING partner, Swing Friend, Swing Partner.
Back into circle holding
hands and repeat.

The Galway Reel
for three people.
Start in a line.
Take hands and advance for 2, turn around for 2, return
for 2, turn around for 2 to end up in original place.
Take hands, sidestep
right and back with 7's and 3's.
End people turn with
right hand for 2 to make an arch.
Centre person dances under for 2. Ends turn back for 2.
Centre person dances back to place for 2
Center person faces
right-hand partner for a reel of 3 (figure-eight)
Circles : take hands in a circle, sidestep to the right
with 7's and 3's
On the 3's, right-hand partner dances under an arch made
by the other two. Reform the circle, and dance back to
the left with seven's and three's, throwing the other end
out
Circles: dance 7's and 3's to the right, then throw the
center person out, then back to the left with 7's and 3's
to form a line and start over.
The two ends will have
switched places.

An Fhéir - Haymakers Jig
for an even number of
people, typically 10.
Line up with the men in one line, facing their partners
in another line.
Forward and back twice
Dance Jig step on the spot
Forward and back once
Top man & bottom
woman meet in middle for right hand turn.
Back to place, then top woman, bottom man repeat.
Then repeat with left hands.
Top man, bottom woman
swing, then top woman, bottom man repeat
Strip
the willow
Top man and Top woman right hand turn 1½ times and end
facing own side.
Left hand turn next in line on their own side.
Right hand turn Partner in the middle again.
Left hand turn their line again.
Right hand Partner etc.
When they reach the
bottom they two hand swing back up the middle.
Break hands and lead
their own lines round the outside to the bottom.
Top couple form arch.
All pass through and top couple are new bottom couple.
Repeat!

for eight people.
Line up in sets of two lines of two couples facing two
couples.
Each 8 person set to be back to back with the next.
The man should be on the left of his partner in each
couple.
Forward and back twice holding hands
Centre drop hands and pairs swap sideways and back
(Whoever is on left passes behind)
Everyone drop hands.
Middle 4 star right and left.
End pairs Swing at same time.
Forward and back and
pass through ARCHES right shoulders
Repeat having advanced one set.
When you get to the bottom, you usually get to sit out
one.
Remember to turn around ready to start again!

for sets of two couples.
Line up in a square set, couple facing couple
Women on the men's right.
Each 4 person set to be back to back with the next.
Forward and Back twice
holding hands
Ladies swap by dancing
sevens across. then Men swap.
Dance away holding right
hand only with opposite and back
Swing partner and end up
facing other way
OR
swing partner and go round other couple in complete
circle
back to place and face new couple.
(Takes a bit more practice!)
When you reach the end
swing round holding hands.
OR you'll end up on the wrong side!

Bridge of Athlone
for two equal lines -
couples facing
Forward and back holding hands, drop hands
Pass through right shoulders, turn round and repeat to
return to place
Top couple gallop up and
down and lead own line to bottom.
Top couple make a
bridge, or arch, and each couple passes through.
As soon as they are through they also make bridges.
Top Man passes through
bridges while woman dances to top outside.
Then she goes through bridges while he dances outside to
bottom
(The Bridge collapses as she passes under)
Then all couples
SWING!!!

A dance for four
couples.

Lead round

Circle left & dance two threes, circle right &
2x3.
Back to square hold partners hand.
The Body
a) Top couples swap Men pass
left shoulder.
Sides dance threes. Then sides swap & tops dance
threes.
Repeat to return to original places.
b) Tops forward and
back, sides dance threes.
Sides forward and back, tops dance threes. Tops repeat.
c) All bend and slap
knees four times (twice each) then clap twice.
Repeat. Swap with partner Men pass behind.
Repeat c) but women pass behind.
