Irish Dancer Tests........

The Corrs Champion split sole Heavy Jig shoe

Our Siobhán gets to try out a pair, read what she thought!

(Update, see our interview with the makers here)

Comfort As soon as I put these on they felt very snug, but not tight. The internal padding just seems to hold the foot gently. It also gives very good shock absorption even when dancing on hard floors

Fit & Style The first thing that I noticed is that these make my feet seem smaller & neater. I have typical dancers feet, which are very wide so this is really good news. The heel back is fairly high which helps it feel very secure with no slipping. The ankle strap is fairly narrow so doesn't stand out, but the buckle is quite fiddly (Corrs are changing this at the moment)

Heels are short and "bubbly" which makes clicks very easy. The toe taps are nicely shaped to concentrate the impact of trebles. The front of the tip is cut at a slight angle which makes toe walking quite easy.

Sound Heel clicks have a nice high pitched tone with good volume. Treble taps also have a good strong clear tone, and good pitch. Volume is good too.

Danceability The shoes are very soft and flexible straight from the box so are easy to dance in. They are very comfortable and very lightweight. Toe walking in these is very easy and secure. In fact these are the only shoes I've ever tried on that I could toe walk in, straight out of the box! 5

Comments I've got to give a big thumbs up to the Corrs Champion as they are very comfortable, and good to dance in. Both my teachers have given their seal of approval to me wearing them too. If you ever get caught at a feis without shoes look for the Corrs stand as you'll be able to dance in these straight away - they're Wicked! Total
