One Parents reality of the feis
(or what it means to be a feis mom!)

Dancers please read carefully!

Please note we don't know whose Mum this was but we all know the feeling!***

The Dream

When you arrive at a Feis (early) you will get her competitor number if they don't mail them and find her stage(s). Walk around meet people, visit with friends, visit the vendors, and have fun.

The Reality

OR you can do what we do - get to the feis in the nick of time - get the number while jamming the wig on her head and making sure the 2 year old is keeping up while wondering how long it can take your hisband to park a car. Then get to the stage trying to convince your dancer to wake up and get the dress on!
How about some shoes now?

Then realize you are at the wrong stage, because even you look at numbers all week you have somehow read the competition number wrong! Move everything to the other stage and realize that you are still 12 competitions away from starting. Plop in the chair and try to convince the 2 year old to eat some Cheerios and sit still and get the dancer to sit on the stool and not on the floor
in the
$Million Dollar$ dress.

Have another family come and sit in the 6 inch strip between you and the stage that you left there as a courtesy to people so they can move freely around the floor. And then when it is time for your dancer to compete look at her smile and realize that it's all worth it - as the 2 year old claps wildly for her sister :)

Ok - it's not like that every weekend and if we did it my way (instead of hubby's)  we would be sitting there for like 2 hours more but I hate the stress of rushing! Placing or not, it's always worth going because she loves it so much! Enjoy feising!
***If you are the writer we hope you don't mind us borrowing this, but it captured our hearts as perfectly summing up what it means to be a feis mom
