We are also lucky enough to have special guest musicians occasionally join us, such as NARADA recording artist and composer, John Whelan. John is also the 7 time all-Ireland button box champion.

Basic Facts
We are located in the central Ohio area, including Dayton, and our latest gigs included the Dublin Irish Festival, the Highland Folk Festival, the Shamrock Club, Tara Hall, Fado', and Byrne's Pub, Columbus, Ohio. Kay has been playing the Accordion since she the age of 10 and a couple of years ago started studying music for dance competitions under Gordon Shaffer from Akron, Ohio. She began playing at local feisanna in Ohio and Cleveland in 1999. She was also part of the Ceili band Ceoltiori Gaeltacha. Heartstone was formed when Kay teamed up with Trish who used to be part of the Strings of Credere trio in Ohio.

Discography & Ordering Information Heartstone are currently working on their new album.
Their first, simply titled "Dance" features traditional Irish Dance Music especially for step dancing and ceili dancing. The album was produced by Doug Dickson, of WCBE's Toss the Feathers. The album is available NOW!
The second album, entitled "Back Road to Dublin" is currently in production. Heartstone would like to thank everyone who was a part of the live album recording session at Byrne's Pub. Everyone's support was fantastic. Look for the album in the early part of 2001!

*Look for the Carol Barney Benefit compilation CD recorded at the Shamrock Club on March 26, 2000. All proceeds benefit this New England guitarist who is suffering from non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Heartstone, and many other local Columbus groups will be featured on this upcoming CD. A special thanks to John Sherman for organizing this special benefit.
What we're up to at the moment!
Saturday, November 17th, St. Andrews Dinner, sponsored by the Mid Ohio Scottish Heritage Association, at the Concourse Hotel, Columbus Airport. Heartstone and the Columbus Scottish Highland Dancers will be entertaining after dinner. Social hour begins at 6:30, dinner at 7:15, tickets are $28. Contact Mary Peden-Pitt for tickets at (614) 279-6198. All proceeds from the dinner benefit the Scottish Arts. Scholarship money from this event will be used to send dancers to the Ohio Scottish Arts School, Oberlin, Ohio. This is a favorite charity of Kay and Trish's, for it's there that they met, and Heartstone was born.

Irish Dancing MagazineHeartstone musician, Kay Proffitt, was invited by Irish Dancing Magazine to submit a track from the group's "Dance" album for their special compilation CD. Look for the the Special Music Issue of Irish Dancing Magazine due in 2000. Heartstone, and many other traditional Feis musicians will be contributing to this CD.
Irish Dancing Magazine also features an interview with Heartstone in their special Music issue for May 2000.

In the September, 2000 Edition of Irish Dancing Magazine the "Dance" album was reviewed again. They gave it a definate thumb's up, stating that "the music does indeed travel well across the water..."
