Fittings

The Hullachan comes in 6 fittings:

Extra Narrow Narrow
Medium Medium Wide

(This is a medium with a slightly wider toe

for dancers with short wide toes at front)

Wide Extra Wide

Wides start at size 1. Smaller wides can be made to special order.

Fronts (or vamps) can be made short, medium or long depending on toe length of dancer. Too short a front on a long toed dancer will cause the dancer to come out of the shoe and also reduce the support in the shoe when on toes (Irish) or half point (Highland).

We have designed a NEW way to tie your laces that DOES NOT cause trauma and pain to either the arch and toes or the Achilles Tendon. Full instructions come with the shoes. There's also a video on the site to show you

Hullachan Pro - The Shoe specially designed to lessen dancing Injuries

Most problems with dancers in the competitive pursuit of Irish Dancing are constant related injuries. An example is pounding up and down on the ball of the foot one foot at a time. This can easily cause stress to the feet and subsequent long term injury.

The Hullachan-Pro, answers this by inserting a series of pads made from a material that the manufacturers have tested as absorbing up to 85% of impact. The placement of these pads are important and The Hullachan-Pro manufacturers can offer a service where extra padding or less padding can be incorporated into the shoe depending on the requirements of the dancer.

Please note that they will not heat up the foot but allow any natural perspiration to be absorbed or dissipated. The pads are extremely light and are 8 times more resilient than rubber.

Achilles Tendonites can be caused by many things but all are inter-related to each other and one common thing is where the shoe stretches and slips on the dancers foot. The result is that the dancer can land incorrectly and cause the tendons to be stressed. The Hullachan-Pro looks at this problem by stitching a series of arch supports that do not stretch. This also has the effect of hugging the shoe neatly against the foot giving even the flat footed dancer a shapely arch.

This was not done for cosmetic reasons however as the dancer needs this support. The alternative use of a heel pad is entirely at the discretion of the dancer and although this is supplied by the distributor, not all dancers require it. It is advantageous to the Achilles sufferer to have a small pad to rest the heel and slightly elevate this area when standing at rest. Extra height can be achieved with the addition of an extra pad. All are easily glued in with a rubber solution adhesive.
