June 1999 (May as well!)

Well folks, I thought that it was about time I got up to date!

After I got back from good old Ireland I had another feis to look forward to in Leicester on 2nd May.

I got 1st in the Intermediate Reel and the Slip Jig, so now I'm Open in those dances.

I also got a 2nd in the Hornpipe, so I nearly made it in that as well.

I picked up some other medals as well so I didn't do too bad.

A week later (on the 8th May) I went to a massive feis in London - the Murchu Duiginn feis.

There were 1500 dancers there in total including some from Ireland! Me and my friend Kirsty were the only ones from our school who went in the Open Championship for our age group. It was our first major Championship and it was quite an experience.

First of all we danced all of our dances as solo dances for one adjudicator but the Reel and Hornpipe were also Judged by three adjudicators (at the same time) as part of the Championship!

I got joint 9th with Kirsty in the Open Slip Jig, which was quite good considering how many were there but we came LAST and NEXT TO LAST in the actual Championship! Great!

On the 23rd May it was back to Birmingham yet again!

This time for the Feis Birmingham. I got nothing in the Intermediates at all but picked up 4th in the Light Jig and 7th in the Slip Jig, both in the Opens!

A couple of weeks later (5th June) It was off to Nottingham - Robin Hood Country!!

This was the feis Glendarragh which I missed last year as they changed the date, without telling ME! But that's another story....

I got 2nd in the Intermediate Hop Jig, 4th in the Trophy, and then strangely got 5th in the Heavy Trophy but nothing in my Heavies!??!

20th June up to the Midlands again but this time to the Feis Coventry.

This one was strange too! I only did my Hop Jig in Intermediate and got nothing, but then I got 2nd in the light trophy doing the Hop Jig!

I got a lovely china plate although I have no where to put it!!

In my heavies I did better, as I got 2nd in the Heavy Jig and 1st in my Hornpipe. I then got 3rd in the heavy Trophy and got yet another plate.

(That means I have only got two Intermediate dances left.)

Sarah and I did the two hand reel and got third!

Another week, another feis!

This time it's the Clifford Festival of I.D. in Corby which is only about 15 miles away from me! This meant it didn't take long to get there and I wasn't a zombie dancer!!

I was meant to start at 10:15 but I actually started at around 12:15!!

We should have finished by 12, but guess what?

We didn't finish 'til gone 5:00!!!!!

Anyway, wasn't a bad day after all, apart from that.

I got 1st for my Intermediate Hop Jig, and won the trophy as well.

I got 2nd in the heavy jig and 4th in the trophy, and then Sarah and I came 2nd in the two hand reel which was really good 'cos it was a big competition.

That's my Diary up to date!!
