from General Rules 23. Under 6's &
Under 7's Championships must dance a Reel & Light
Jig. These must have been performed on day of the feis to
enter the championship.
24. In all Championships competitors must be given the
choice of Reel/Slip Jig and Heavy Jig/Hornpipe &
Recall Set Dance if required.
25. In all age groups (except under 6's & under 7's)
dancers must have performed 1 light dance & 2 heavy
dances to be eligible for the championship.
26. Figure Championship in the under 7's year group may
be a 6 Hand Dance, 8 Hand Ceili or Figure Dance of 6 or
more.
27. In Figure competitions 25% of a team may re-dance in
a higher age group.
28. In Ceili 8 Hand competitions any 8 Hand may be
performed in accordance with Ar Rince Foirne.
29. Ceili 8 Hand cannot take part in Figure Dance
competition (exception under 7's).
30. In Figure Dance competitions a team must consist of 8
or more dancers to a maximum of 16 dancers.
31. In Figure Dance competitions the dance performed must
be of the teacher's own invention.
34. The following age groups must be adhered to for all
feis competitions: -
Novice Under 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13 end
Primary Under 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 & over 13
end
Intermediate Under 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15,
16, 17 & Senior (U19 optional)
Open Under 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17
& Senior (U 19 optional)
35. The following Figure and Ceili age groups must be
adhered to for all feis competitions: -

Seniors
Please note from 1st January to 31st July the age groups
should be listed as: -
Under7, Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 16 &

37. All musicians used should be competent and willing to
abide by the prescribed metronome speeds laid down by An
Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha.

| Extracts from the Feis Rules 1.
Age to be taken from the 1st January
5. Entries will only be accepted from schools registered
with An Coimisiun.
6. Novice & Primary grades are confined to the
Midlands Regional Council area with the exception of only
five feiseanna, Nottingham, Corby, Peterborough, Cardiff
and Huntingdon as these are considered to be outlying
areas & have permission to open their Novice and
Primary grades to include dancers from outside the MRC
area.
10. Competitors must dance in their own age group for
solo competitions.
13. A Novice dancer is one who has not won 1st, 2nd or
3rd place in that particular dance.
14. In Novice competitions only basic steps will be
acceptable; no intricate steps, clicks, rocks, twists,
etc. This includes Reel and Slip Jig.
15. A Primary dancer is one who has not won a 1st place
for that particular dance in any age group.
16. An Intermediate dancer is one who has not won a 1st
place for that particular dance in his/her present age
group.
17. A winner of a trophy competition must move up to the
next grade if they have won 1st place in that particular
dance
18. In the trophy competitions a dancer is only able to
perform their choice of dance as long as they have taken
part in that particular dance in the solo competitions on
that day.
19. Where there are 5 or less competitors in a solo
competition grades will be unaffected.
20. The wording "Championship" can only be used
on a syllabus where a panel of 3 adjudicators will be
used; otherwise it must be called a "Premier
Competition".
21. Championships & Premier Competitions all
Intermediate and Open dancers are eligible except Primary
dancers. The only exception is in under 6 and under 7 age
groups where Primary dancers are permitted to compete.
