Antonio Pacelli Shoes - the most popular shoes for dancers

This information was supplied by Antonio Pacelli shoes and relates specifically to their range of shoes. Irish-Dancer is happy to recommend Antonio Pacelli shoes to dancers of all grades.
All of Antonio Pacelli's shoes comply with the current An Coimisium regulations.

There is also some general information relating to measuring your feet correctly for safe ordering over the web

What Tip should I wear on my shoes?

The first choice you need to make is on what type of tip would suit you best. There are several types of tip available and each has its particular benefits

Leinster tip

This tip is aimed at beginner and intermediates.
It is a composite tip rather than fiberglass. Like other manufacturers, we are moving away from fiberglass as you get a stronger material using composites and it is less likely to chip.
However, the major advantage is that you can get more sound for the same amount of tip.
Concorde tip

This tip is aimed at more advanced dancers and is also made from composite materials.
This is slightly heavier than the Leinster but generates a louder, deeper sound and gives the dancer more control of the sound created.
These are extremely, extremely durable and we have to date never had one wear out!
Concorde 2000 tip

The loudest tip of the three. This is our most recent tip and is extremely loud. Ideal for the light footed dancer or those looking for that extra competitive edge.
However, while these are louder than the Concorde they do not last as long.
This is of course an important consideration if you are overseas as you will have to send them back to the UK for retipping.
Expect to replace them after 6-12months depending on how frequently you dance.
What About the Heel?

Once you've chosen your tips you'll need to select the heel to suit you as well.

Leinster Heel

This is our standard heel, which is made from tough plastic and tapered to a heel piece which generates the sound. Again this is aimed at beginner or intermediate dancers.

Concorde Heel

A more expensive heel, this is a solid composite tip which is aimed at more experienced dancers.
This has a 'bulge' or semi-bubble which makes it easier to perform heel clicks. It produces a loud sound and again is extremely, extremely durable.

General Info.

Something to remember is that most manufacturers are happy to customise tips and heels on request.
For example we frequently increase the height of tips and heels and adjust the shape to personal requirements so if you need something like this then you should ask.

What size should I get?

Buying shoes by mail order, or over the Internet, is bound to cause problems. Dancers all have their own particular ideas over how a shoe should fit, and it doesn't help that actual sizings vary between countries. However, these problems can be minimised by reading through the following information on ordering your shoes from Antonio Pacellis.

Tips on sending foot tracings.
  • Draw around your foot with your socks on as you will get a more accurate tracing
  • Do not forget to put your name and contact details on the fax or scan
  • Draw a straight line from the heel to the top of the big toe.
  • Measure the line and write the measurement on the tracing. This is because some fax machines distort pictures, and the manufacturer can then check for any shrinkage while faxing
  • Do not try and draw around your foot on carpet. Use a firm surface or put a book underneath the paper
  • Keep the pen vertical. The aim is not to draw around the part of the foot, which touches the paper, but to convey the accurate size of your foot
  • If possible get someone else to draw around your foot while you are standing as your foot is larger with your full weight on it.
