Dance by Heartstone

This brilliant New recording is Hot off the Press!

Heartstone's music is a special blend that gives a real edge to "traditional" Irish music and they have recorded these tracks especially for dancing to.

Every track has a real LIVE feel to it with the combination of Kay Proffitts Accordion and Trish Featherstone's Fiddle creating a really intimate "Ceili" or "Feis" atmosphere. The rest of the band, with their traditional instruments, really complement the overall sound, carrying you straight back to the Irish Crossroads Dance Halls of yesteryear. All the Reels and Jigs are here, as well as fast and slow Hornpipes. They've even included their versions of a selection of the most popular of the Open Set Dances, in fact everything a dancer needs! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

History Of Irish Ceilí Dancing

Céili dancing came into prominence early in the 20th century and appears to have reached the height of its popularity in the 1930s-70s, after which it went into decline. During that period the "Céilí" phenomenon was widespread throughout every corner of Ireland and England and as far afield as New Zealand, Australia and America. It was very much part of the social and cultural life of both rural and urban Ireland, but especially of the small rural communities.
