LOTD Couple get married

Irish Dancer is proud to announce that LOTD Principal dancers
Shaun Casey and Aisling Toal
have recently married in Denver Colorado.
Shaun & Aisling are both currently in Troupe 2 with Lord of the Dance
and wanted to share their happy day with Irish dancers everywhere,
so they gave us an exclusive interview!

We asked Shaun how they met
We met through Lord of the Dance.  It was in 2000 and we were on a South American tour.
Was that when you joined LOTD?
No, I had been in troupe 2 since 1998 and Aisling had been on tour with Michael Flatley since 1999.
Was it Love at first sight then?
I first spotted her on the tour bus and thought that she was a real stunning girl, but the sparks took awhile.

So you'd known each other for a while, how did you propose?
I proposed April 24 2005 in Hawaii. (very nice!)
Was that a special date?
Not particularly. We were on tour with the show and had four days off.  I had been carrying the 1.28 carat Tiffany stunner (Wow! that's something special) for four weeks before that so I was glad to get it on Aislings' finger.  I brought her to an amazing restaurant on the beach and proposed on one knee after dinner. (Aaaahhh......how romantic)

She looks amazing! What a fabulous dress, even for an Irish dancer!
What about the wedding then?
We held the Wedding in Denver, Colorado and we flew in forty of Aisling's family from Belfast.  We actually got Married at the Balsilica in Denver where the Pope had been during World Youth day.
The Reception was held at the Fox Hollow Country Club. There were lots of pink roses. There were also lots of Lord of the Dance members that attended including principal dancers Don Mccarron and Tracy Smith.

What about the Honeymoon?
For our Honey moon we went to Las Vegas first and stayed at Caesars Palace for four nights, saw Le Reve and drank lots of wine.  From Las Vegas we flew into Orange County and stayed at the Ritz Carlton Laguna beach, which is an amazing hotel with stunning views.

Tell us a little about yourselves, how long have you been dancing?
I started dancing at age 10 and progressed rapidly.
I won the Western Regional championships six times, (WOW!) placed fourth at the North American Championships and tenth at the World Champs. (That's not a bad resumé)
I joined Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance in 98 after auditioning for Marie Duffy.  I was selected by Michael to play the good lord and then later the evil lord and  I have been a principal dancer for four years.
Impressive stuff, what about Aisling's career?
Aisling started dancing at age four in Belfast.(A very young starter then!)
She has placed third in the All Irelands (and that's not easy!) and started touring with Michael Flatley in Feet of Flames.  She is now a principal dancer performing the good girl or Saorisa.
You must have travelled to some nice places with LOTD then?
Yes we have as we have been in the show for six years now.  In that time we have been on multiple World tours including all of Europe, North and South America, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Australia.
Does anything really stand out?
Aisling danced with Michael in Budapest for 100,000 people. (that must have been amazing) We also both loved Melbourne Australia.
Have you danced for anyone famous on your travels?
Yes we have, quite a few in fact. We have danced for and met : Jack Nicholson (he looks frightening!), Alice Cooper (he's terrifying!), Anna Kornikova, Backstreet boys, Terri Hatcher (Superman's girlfriend WOW!), Michael Jordan, Shainia Twain, President Bush and his wife Barbara.  James Blunt, Moby. to name a few.  (an impressive list!)
Now that you're married what does the future hold?
We are joining with another dance school and have formed the new school, Celtic Steps and have studios in Denver and Colorado Springs (We'll watch out for your dancers at the Worlds in the future then!)

Thanks for talking to us Shaun & Aisling.
CONGRATULATIONS Mr & Mrs Casey
You have our best wishes for your future together.
May the Sun that Shone on your Wedding Day keep you wrapped in its warmth
throughout the years and light your way forward together always
